How to take Opana ER?

Take Opana precisely as instructed by your doctor or health professional and follow all the directions prescribed in your medicine guide.

Do not use this medicine for a long time duration more than the specified time. Do not share this medicine with any person addicted to alcohol or who doesn’t know how to use this medicine correctly. Always use this medicine with an empty stomach, a minimum of one hour after or one hour before the meal. Take this medicine whole at once, do not break or chew the tablets, and do not dissolve this medicine.

Usual Adult Dose of Opana for Pain:

The following dosing can only be considered suggested approaches to a series of clinical decisions over time; who should manage each patient individually.

Use as first Opioid Analgesic:

Starting dose: 10 to 20 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain, and maximum initial dose: 20mg.
Dose conversion should be done carefully and with close monitoring due to large patient variability in opioid analgesic response. Use the lowest effective dosage for the short duration consistent with individual patient treatment goals. Track closely for respiratory depression, especially within the first 24 to 72 hours of starting medication and with each doses increases.

Due to risks of addiction, abuse, and misuse, even at recommended doses, reserve use for patients for whom alternative treatment options have or are not expected to be handled, or have not provided adequate analgesia, or are not expected to be given adequated.

Usual Dose of Opana ER for ADULT

Use as the first opioid analgesic and for those who are not opioid-tolerant: Initial dose for extended-release tablets: 5mg orally every 12 hours.

Overdose

An overdose of Opana ER can be fatal. Overdose symptoms are;

Pinpoint pupils
Slow breathing or no breathing
Serious drowsiness
